Thanks to its convenient opening design, the degree of wear on threaded components and the inner lining of the barrel can be readily inspected at any time, enabling effective maintenance or replacement. If problems arise with the extruded product, they might go unnoticed, leading to unnecessary waste.
Reduce manufacturing costs
When manufacturing masterbatches, color changes are often necessary. If a product change is required, the open processing area can be opened within just a few minutes. Moreover, the mixing process can be analyzed by observing the melt profile along the entire screw. Currently, conventional twin-screw extruders require large amounts of cleaning materials to clean the machine during color changes, which is time-consuming, energy-intensive, and results in wasteful use of raw materials. A split-type twin-screw extruder can solve this problem. During color changes, the barrel can be quickly opened for manual cleaning in just a few minutes, eliminating or significantly reducing the need for cleaning materials and thereby saving costs.
Improve labor efficiency
During equipment maintenance, the heating and cooling systems of conventional twin-screw extruders are typically removed first, after which the screw assembly itself is pulled out entirely. There’s no need for a split-type twin-screw design. Instead, simply loosen a few bolts, turn the worm-gear box handle mechanism, lift the upper part of the barrel, open the entire barrel, and then proceed with maintenance. This not only shortens maintenance time but also reduces labor intensity.
High torque, high speed
Currently, the development trend of twin-screw extruders worldwide is toward higher torque, higher speeds, and lower energy consumption. The result of high speed is increased productivity. Split-type twin-screw extruders fall into this category, with speeds reaching up to 500 rpm. Consequently, they offer unique advantages in processing high-viscosity and thermally sensitive materials.
In terms of core technologies for high-speed, high-torque applications, only German and Japanese manufacturers currently master the technology behind asymmetric and symmetric high-torque gear reducers. These reducers can achieve rotational speeds of 1,800 rpm or higher. Among domestic companies, only Sichuan Zhongzhuang Technology Co., Ltd. has mastered this critical technology, making it one of the primary choices for China’s high-end material-processing manufacturers.
